Netherlands v Spain WC Final Matchup

VS.

So, if you are like me, you are wondering, is it Holland or Netherlands? Make up your damn mind. Actually, Holland refers to 2 of the 12 provinces of the Netherlands, despite even some Dutch referring to their own country as Holland. If they can't make up their own mind on one name for their own country, they may have trouble here in the finals.

Well, this is it. Back to the finals. But this time we're back with two teams that can hoist the trophy for the first time. The Netherlands, having been here before, brings a tried and true winner, Yolanthe-Cabau van Kasbergen (wife of Wesley Sneijder). Spain, on the other hand, brings a woman that called out her own boyfriend, Iker Casillas, after a loss to Switzerland. Makes you wonder what goes on at home... Anyways, without further ado, let us introduce Spain's Sara Carbonero.

And just because we here at TSI are as annoyed as hell with the damn psychic octopus, we're going to introduce our own WC predictor: Tiger Woods (hey, we know he's got a preference for blonds and Jesse James has some weird preference for forehead tattoos so he was unavailable).

My personal prediction? van Kasbergen and the Netherlands 2, Carbonero and Spain 1.

Boy, I sure don't want to be near Sara Carbonero after this game cause she's going to be biting heads off.

Kickoff is 1:30CST on ABC. And though we may have a favorite to win, I think, in a fight between these two, we're all winners (if we're watching that is).

  1. Am I the only one who thinks Holland should be represented by Sylvie Van der Vaart, actress/model wife of Rafael Van der Vaart?

  2. Me too! Thank you. Maybe the octopus was waiting for her to show up, but as it stands Sara edging out Yolanthe just barely. Game about to start and noticed my favorite Japanese ref is a linesman. Don't expect any penalties from Howard Webb . . . Spain 2-1 I say. Sara, you're a "sportscaster" how about an interview?

  3. Or my man is the 4th official, for whatever that's worth. Kinda like a ref PR man.
