Doyle, an 18yo Texas native, had until recently been playing forward for the Dallas Texans. Looks like the kid turned down a scholarship with powerhouse Creighton to play some preseason trial ball for Derby, and did well enough to sign a 2yr contract with them.
Derby has given him the #23 jersey and we can expect to see him play some against Leeds tomorrow in the npower season opener (subject to a clearance by the FA which shouldn't be a problem as his dad was born in Dublin, Ireland).
If Doyle sound familiar to you Indoor Soccer fans, his dad was David Doyle, a twice MISL lead scorer in the 80s and played for the KC Comets, Wichita Wings, Dallas Sidekicks, and St. Louis Ambush in his 17 seasons indoor.
Doyle played 45 minutes against Burton Albion and Southend United, 90 minutes in a draw at Bournemouth and he started and scored in a weekend victory at Chesterfield. Looks like we have another one to watch in the future.
