LA Galaxy v Real Madrid Highlights

In case you missed this one, Higuain decided to recreate the Brazil v US Confed's Cup game right in our back yard by spotting us two goals in the first half then scoring two himself as Real came back and won 3-2 in front of 90,000.

  1. Damn, and I would have been there if this weekend had been free. As it turns out, couldn't even watch it on TV.

Anyway, the Clint Mathis start was a token honor for him as he retired after the match, and Mathis was removed for Tristan Bowen after about 25 minutes.

First goal: That was all my man, Big Omar Gonzalez. I've always liked that guy. Check out how high he gets over his defender on the replay.

Second goal: what's up with replaying the penalty kick but not replaying the foul that led to it? So Landon Donovan made another PK, I'm not impressed. Who made it happen by drawing the foul? (I looked it up: it was Juninho, who got kicked by Royston Drenthe)

Third goal: Nice "defending" Berhalter. That is Berhalter wearing #16 who looked pathetic trying to keep up with Gonzalo Higuain. Sweet pass by Cristiano Ronaldo, though. Big Omar Gonzalez couldn't keep up with him, either.

Fourth goal: Wow, that is some spectacular ball control by Higuain. He has to be considered one of the world's best goal scorers for that.

Fifth goal: Josh Saunders did well to make the initial save, but it just isn't fair when you make the save on Higuain, preventing the hat trick, and the ball goes straight to Xabi Alonso, who justified his selection to our World Cup Best XI with a beautiful touch.

The other big news is that Gonzalo Higuain said he liked Los Angeles and would consider moving here later in his career...if he was a cartoon, little dollar signs would flash in his eyes.
