Colombia v US Preview

After watching us sit the son of Polish immigrants while playing Poland, it is expected that Eric Lichaj will see some playing time. Not sure why BB decided to bench him in a friendly, where the entire goal is to try out new players before the WCQ kicks in, but, you know our opinion on Skeletor in charge of the USMNT...

The US and Colombia have announced the rosters for tonight's game:

GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton)

FORWARDS (5): Falcao (Porto), Teofilo Gutierrez (Trabzonspor), Giovani Moreno (Racing Club), Adrian Ramos (Hertha Berlin), Darwin Quintero (Santos Laguna)

Cherundolo and Bocanegra are returning to their clubs, so this could be a chance to try out some of the youngins. Will it happen? No. Not with unemployed DeMerit and benchwarmer for AC Milan, Gooch, available. Enjoy more frustration with us as you watch. The game is tonight 7pm CST on ESPN2.

  1. Well looky here - the starting outside backs against Poland, Captain Carlos and Cherundolo, are not on the roster tonight. Spector will start at right back. Is Lichaj a left back? If so, he is starting, if not, it will be Heath Pearce trying to work his way back on the team.

Hate to say it but I would almost like to have Bornstein in this situation if this was a meaningful game. Since it's not, start the kid.

We should use the same 4-5-1 lineup with Jozy alone up top, and Holden, Dempsey, and Feilhaber as the offensive midfield. Jones and Bradley are the defensive mids but we have to figure out a way to get Edu in the lineup, too. But not at center back. Goodson should start.

  2. Well, a few things from the game. First, Lichaj is definitely our future right back. He looked good and went forward a lot. A lot like 'dolo. But the problem is what to do with Jones. He, Bradley, and Edu all play the same position. Looked lost with his new teammates, but looked strong and capable. Will have to see how that plays out.
