Still waiting for the Professor's usual game analysis. In the meantime, here are some of the video highlights for you:

  1. Sadly, I don't have Telefutura, so I couldn't see the game. Might have gone to Carson if my kid didn't have a game himself. Anyway, I just have the highlights to go on.

    Starting lineup was
GK Nick Rimando (1st half shutout)
    DR Sean Franklin
    DC Tim Ream
DC Big Omar Gonzalez (1st half shutout)
    DL Zach Loyd
    DMC Jeff Larentowicz
    DMC Dax McCarty
    OMC Alejandro Bedoya (most experienced)
    ML Brek Shea
    MR Mikkel Diskerud
    FC Chris Wondolowski

First half 0-0, but at halftime Nick Rimando was replaced by Sean Johnson, and Big Omar Gonzalez was replaced by Marvell Wynne at center back. Bad move. On Chile's goal, Zach Loyd got beaten wide, and Marvell Wynne got beaten to the ball by goal scorer Esteban Paredes. 1-0 Chile in the 53rd minute.

But then, coach Bradley made a big improvement. Juan Agudelo replaced Brek Shea at left wing, and Teal Bunbury replaced Chris Wondolowski as the lone forward in the 60th minute. Nice move! Agudelo played a give and go with Bedoya, and got fouled in teh penalty area. Bunbury put away the PK in the 75th minute. 1-1 draw, final score.

Just before the goal, Zach Loyd came out at left back for Anthony Wallace in the 73rd minute, yet U.S. Soccer gave Zach Loyd Man of the Match, despite Loyd finishing with a -1 plus/minus (since he allowed the first goal and wasn't on for the US goal). The final sub was some guy named Eric Alexander for Alejandro Bedoya in the 83rd minute. How they give Man of the Match to someone who didn't play all 90 is beyond me. I would think Tim Ream, Jeff Larentowicz, or Dax McCarty (each of whom played the full 90) would warrant the award.

Mikkel Diskerud also played the full 90, I would like to have seen that. So did Sean Franklin, but I've seen him play in MLS enough to know he sucks.

  2. Edit: the blogs I read today gave Man of the Match to Dax McCarty. So I was right about that.
