Charlie Davies 2, T&T U-20's 0

On Saturday, February 12, DC United just concluded their training camp with a 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago's U-20 team. Charlie Davies scored two goals and assisted a third one, playing only the second half and creating all three of DCU's second half goals. Here is the official report from DC United. Notice the nasty scar on Charlie's head in the training camp photo.

Dax McCarty assisted the first goal by Joseph Ngwenya in the 33rd minute, on a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box. The second half was all Charlie Davies, who entered as a halftime sub. In the 68th minute, Charlie dribbled through the entire T&T U-20 defense, and then after drawing the whole team, passed to Kurt Morsink for a 2-0 lead. One short minute later, Charlie used his speed to race onto a through ball and shoot it inside the near post for a 3-0 lead, and then burned past the T&T U-20 center backs for an unassisted goal in the 75th minute.

Steven Goff of the Washington Post reports that DCU are quite satisfied with Charlie's fitness and will officially sign him either tomorrow or Thursday, according to DCU head coach Ben Olsen. He is looking damn good to me.
