Champions League Final 2011

Barcelona v. Manchester United

Pep v. SAF
Evil v. Eviler
La Liga v. EPL

Whatever you want to call it, we can't fault either team for the hype of this matchup. 1st place in Spain versus 1st place in England...

At 1:45pm CST today, on Fox, not FSC, but a primetime channel we're talking here, the two will match up at Wembley Stadium.

Barcelona defeated Real Madrid, Shaktar, and Arsenal in the knockout stages to get here. None are pushovers.

Man U came away with wins against Olympique Marsailles, EPL runner ups Chelsea, and Schalke 04.

So who will win?

Warner and Bin Hammam Thrown Under Bus

Wow...

I'm at a loss for words after reading this. It's like getting your biggest Christmas wish and being fired all in the same day.

The great writers over at bigsoccer have made it known that Warner and Bin Hammam are both (as well as several others) now charged with outright bribery of other FIFA officials to secure the CONCACAF votes for the June 1st FIFA President election.

So what does this mean? Well, Jack Warner can kiss his ass goodbye (and does that mean everyone will now be kissing Blazer's rosy backside?) as well as saying "Four more years of corruption," brought to you by the other corrupt guy, Sepp Blatter.

Just... wow.

Interesting New Set Piece

Bryant High School (Arkansas) dummies a new set piece for a goal... and surprisingly it works.

No word on if their opponents were too busy laughing to stop this one.

There Can Be Only One

Well, I had to find a reason to pull out the old Highlander quote.

That said, here's how your favorite Insider stacked up on his predictions for the 2010/11 EPL Season:

US Announces Gold Cup Roster

And it's a doozie...

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Everton, England), Marcus Hahnemann(Wolverhampton, England), Nick Romando (Salt Lake)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne, France), Jonathan Bornstein (Tigres, Mexico), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover, Germany), Clarence Goodson (Brondby, Denmark), Eric Lichaj (Leeds, England), Oguchi Onyewu (Twente, Netherlands), Tim Ream (New York) Jonathan Spector (West Ham United, England)

Midfielders: Freddy Adu (Rizespor, Turkey), Michael Bradley (Aston Villa, England), Clint Dempsey (Fulham, England), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles), Maurice Edu (Rangers, Scotland), Benny Feilhaber (New England), Jermaine Jones (Blackburn, England), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht, Belgium), Robbie Rogers (Columbus)

Forwards: Juan Agudelo (New York), Jozy Altidore (Bursaspor, Turkey), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose)

Yes, you read those names correctly. Some new, but mostly old... very old. And definitely not what we'd bring to 2014. Jones? He's still here? Yeah, well, we had to give him a send off after defecting and since he won't be on the 2014 roster... Bocanegra is still playing? We really don't have a LB? Really? Anywhere? Bueller? And Freddy Adu? Freddy has made a mere 11 caps with 4 goals in D2 Turkey...

Sigh.

Pumas are 2011 Clausura Champions

Anything else would have been a shock. UNAM Pumas win the 2011 Torneo Clausura title at home with a 2-1 win over Morelia to win the final series 3-2 aggregate. However, it wasn't easy, and the final goal was an instant classic to give the home fans a great victory to enjoy. The first half was a brutal affair, and the most influential man on the field was referee Marco Antonio Rodriguez, who did more in the first half to win the game for Pumas than any player.
